The Wilwood ProMatrix Replacement Rotor and Pad Kit 140-8314 is a direct-fit service kit for Wilwood ProMatrix big brake systems on 1994–2014 Ford Mustang and select Chevy Camaro applications. When your rotors are grooved or below minimum thickness, this kit restores full braking performance.

Includes two 13.06-inch GT-72 directional-vane rotors and four BP-20 SmartPad compound pads. The GT-72 rotors are cast from proprietary iron alloy with 72 curved vanes for maximum airflow. Rotor thickness is 1.10 inches with a minimum allowable thickness of 1.03 inches. The BP-20 pads deliver a torque coefficient of 0.48 with linear response from ambient to 1,200°F. All hardware included.

The GT-72 rotor and BP-20 pad combination is Wilwood's most popular street/track package: the rotor's thermal capacity handles repeated hard braking from 130+ mph without warping, and BP-20 pads provide excellent cold bite with fade-free track performance. This kit effectively halves the cost of a full new system while maintaining 95% of the performance.

Your Wilwood brakes are the best stopping power on your car. Keep them in top shape with the 140-8314 rotor and pad kit. Order your replacement set today.

Frequently Asked Questions

What rotor diameter and pad compound come in the Wilwood ProMatrix 140-8314 kit?

The Wilwood Disc Brakes 140-8314 ProMatrix replacement kit includes a direct-fit rotor and pad set, with rotor diameters matching the original Wilwood big brake kit sizes ranging from 11 to 13 inches depending on the vehicle. The BP-10 pad compound provides a medium coefficient of friction with excellent cold bite and low dust characteristics for daily driving. This kit is designed as a service replacement for existing Wilwood brake systems, ensuring consistent performance with the original calipers.

Does the Wilwood 140-8314 rotor feature a drilled, slotted, or plain face design?

The Wilwood ProMatrix 140-8314 rotor features Wilwood's GT spec curved-slot face design that sweeps the pad surface clean and releases gas buildup during high-temperature braking. The rotors are made from proprietary long-lasting cast iron with specific carbon content for thermal stability and wear resistance. Curved slots reduce noise and vibration compared to straight slots while still providing the gas relief needed for consistent braking.

Does the Wilwood ProMatrix kit work with GT or SL series Wilwood calipers?

Yes, the Wilwood ProMatrix 140-8314 replacement rotor and pad kit is compatible with Wilwood GT, SL, and Superlite series calipers as long as the rotor diameter and hat offset match the caliper mounting bracket specifications. The included pads have the correct shape and thickness for Wilwood's radial-mount or lug-mount calipers. Always verify your caliper series and rotor dimensions against the part specifications before ordering to ensure proper fitment.

What is included in the Wilwood ProMatrix 140-8314 replacement kit?

The Wilwood ProMatrix 140-8314 kit includes two rotors, two sets of BP-10 brake pads, and the necessary hardware including rotor mounting bolts and pad retaining clips for a complete axle replacement. The rotors are pre-assembled with the internal hub and bearings where applicable. This all-in-one service kit saves time and ensures that the rotor and pad combination is properly matched for optimal braking performance.

How long do Wilwood ProMatrix rotors and pads typically last on a street-driven car?

Wilwood ProMatrix rotors and BP-10 pads on a street-driven performance car typically provide 25,000 to 40,000 miles of service for the pads and 40,000 to 60,000 miles for the rotors before requiring replacement. The BP-10 compound is formulated for low wear and low dust in daily driving while still providing adequate performance for occasional spirited driving. Track use or repeated high-speed braking will significantly reduce both pad and rotor life.

Can I upgrade the pads in the Wilwood 140-8314 kit to a higher-performance compound?

Yes, the Wilwood ProMatrix 140-8314 kit uses standard Wilwood pad shapes, so you can upgrade to BP-20, PolyMatrix H, or PolyMatrix E compounds when the included BP-10 pads wear out if you need higher temperature tolerance for track use. Each compound offers different friction levels and temperature ranges, with BP-20 providing a higher coefficient for more aggressive braking. Always bed-in new pads properly by performing a series of controlled stops from increasing speeds to match the pad compound to the rotor surface.
