COMP Cams 4018 COMP Cams Stud Girdles
The COMP Cams 4018 COMP Cams Stud Girdles are precision-machined rocker arm stud girdles designed to eliminate valvetrain flex at high RPM. As valve spring pressures increase and cam profiles become more aggressive, the rocker arm studs can flex under load, introducing valvetrain instability. Stud girdles tie the rocker studs together, creating a rigid structure that maintains rocker arm geometry.
CNC-machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum, these girdles feature a durable anodized finish for longevity. Each kit includes heat-treated alloy steel adjusting nuts and all necessary mounting hardware. The design accommodates 7/16-inch and 3/8-inch stud diameters and fits most small block and big block applications. Adjustable pushrod guides are included where applicable to ensure precise rocker arm-to-valve tip alignment, eliminating side loading on the valve stem that can cause guide wear and valve seal failure.
Stud girdles reduce rocker arm deflection by up to 50%, improving valve timing accuracy and increasing the valve float threshold by 300-500 RPM. This translates to more power at the top end and reduced risk of valve-to-piston contact. For engines running spring pressures above 300 lbs open and cam lift exceeding 0.550-inch, stud girdles are essential hardware that prevents valvetrain instability at high RPM. The improved valvetrain rigidity also reduces rocker arm stud fatigue.
