The B&M Holeshot Torque Converter is a street/strip performance converter for GM TH350 and TH400 automatic transmissions in 1964–present GM muscle cars and hot rods. If you're running a small-block or big-block Chevy with a camshaft having 220°+ duration, the stock stall converter is leaving ET on the table.

This 10-inch converter features a furnace-brazed impeller and turbine for high-RPM structural integrity, with a stall speed range of 2,200–2,800 RPM depending on engine torque. A needle bearing thrust washer assembly provides high-mileage durability. A billet steel hub with hardened splines ensures concentricity and prevents wobble that causes front pump bushing wear. Rated for engines up to 400 HP in street weight vehicles.

The Holeshot significantly improves off-the-line acceleration by letting the engine climb into its power band before the transmission fully couples. In a 350 HP small-block Chevelle, expect a 0.3–0.5-second improvement in 60-foot times. Despite the aggressive stall, it's manageable in daily driving with no excessive slippage in normal cruising.

Your TH350/TH400 car has more potential off the line. Unlock it with the B&M Holeshot. Order your converter today.

Frequently Asked Questions

What stall speed does this B&M torque converter have for my truck or muscle car?

The B&M torque converter stall speed varies by model, with the Holeshot series offering stall speeds from 2,000 to 3,200 RPM and the Traveler series offering lower stall speeds around 1,600 to 2,000 RPM for towing and daily driving. The converter is built with furnace-brazed fins and needle bearings for durability under high torque loads. Selecting the right stall speed depends on your camshaft power band, vehicle weight, and intended use.

Does the B&M torque converter work with a 700R4 or 4L60E transmission?

Yes, B&M torque converters are available with the correct input spline count, pump drive lugs, and pilot diameter to fit GM 700R4, 4L60E, TH350, and TH400 transmissions, as well as Ford C4, C6, and AOD applications depending on the specific part number. The converter lockup and clutch configuration must match your transmission's valve body type to ensure proper engagement. Always confirm your transmission model, flexplate bolt pattern, and crankshaft pilot size before ordering.

How does the B&M Traveler torque converter improve towing performance?

The B&M Traveler torque converter features a lower stall speed of 1,600 to 2,000 RPM that keeps the engine in its torque band while towing heavy loads, reducing transmission heat buildup by minimizing converter slippage. It includes a heavy-duty stator and needle bearing construction that withstands the constant load of towing without premature wear. The Traveler also provides a tighter fluid coupling at highway speeds for improved fuel economy compared to a stock converter.

What is the difference between the B&M Holeshot and the Traveler torque converter?

The B&M Holeshot torque converter is designed for performance applications with stall speeds between 2,000 and 3,200 RPM to allow the engine to reach its power band for quicker launches, while the Traveler series is built with a lower stall speed of 1,600 to 2,000 RPM for towing and daily driving with minimal heat gain. The Holeshot uses a stator with a higher torque multiplication ratio for improved off-the-line acceleration. Choosing between them depends on whether you prioritize launch performance or drivability.

Will this B&M torque converter bolt directly to my factory flexplate?

The B&M torque converter uses the standard mounting pad pattern that bolts directly to most factory and aftermarket flexplates with the appropriate torque converter bolts, which are typically 3/8-24 or 10mm x 1.5 thread depending on the application. The pilot diameter is machined to fit the crankshaft register in the back of the crank, ensuring concentric alignment during assembly. Always check the flexplate bolt circle and crankshaft pilot size for your specific engine before installation.

What transmission fluid should I use with a B&M performance torque converter?

B&M recommends using a high-quality Dexron III or Dexron VI automatic transmission fluid for their torque converters, or a synthetic ATF that meets the Mercon V specification for Ford applications. For high-stall applications producing excessive heat, synthetic transmission fluid provides better thermal stability and resistance to breakdown at temperatures above 250 degrees Fahrenheit. B&M also sells their own Trick Shift fluid formulation specifically designed for high-performance and race transmissions.
