PerTronix Ignitor II® Solid-State Ignition Systems
PerTronix Ignitor II® Solid-State Ignition Systems
The PerTronix Ignitor II for Ford V8 distributors with Load-O-Matic or Dual Advance vacuum units upgrades your classic Ford with microprocessor-controlled ignition timing. Designed for 289, 302, 351W, 390, 428, and 460 Ford V8s from the 1960s and 1970s, this module replaces the troublesome Ford points system with adaptive dwell control for consistent spark energy.
This Ignitor II variant is designed specifically for Ford distributors with the dual-advance vacuum mechanism and includes the proper magnet sleeve profile for Ford's distributor shaft diameter and length. The microcontroller adjusts coil dwell from 3 to 15 milliseconds depending on engine speed, maximizing coil saturation at idle while preventing coil overheating at high RPM. Operates on 6-16 volts DC with included wiring harness. The Hall-effect sensor is epoxy-potted and the module fits entirely under the Ford distributor cap without any clearance issues.
Ford points distributors are notorious for point float above 5,000 RPM and rapid wear from the heavy Ford advance springs. The Ignitor II eliminates these issues entirely, allowing clean spark delivery to 7,000 RPM. You'll also notice improved cold-start behavior and smoother idle with the optimized low-RPM dwell. Installation removes the existing points plate and replaces it with the Ignitor module — about 25 minutes with basic hand tools.
Stop fighting with Ford points adjustment. Install the PerTronix Ignitor II and enjoy the reliable electronic ignition your Ford always deserved.
